When you’re in Florida it only seems appropriate to get to know this ancient beast.

The first alligators appeared around 37 million years ago 😮 and early crocodilians lived over 200 million years ago. Ancient! It’s so wild we live amongst these much smaller versions. Can you imagine if you were dropped into the Mesozoic Era (otherwise known as the Age of the Reptiles because they ruled the air, land, and sea 😳)?

Taxidermy head is fully intact.

I have always had a fascination with all parts of animals and nature. Even as a quiet little introverted child I would poke around in my backyard and the woods behind the house for feathers, bones, signs left by creatures of the forest.

On a visit to our local farmer’s market I found a crafter who was selling decoupage oyster and clam shells. She had taken this throw away item from nature and turned it into this little piece of art. I was inspired to remake some of the bones I had collected over the years into works of art and off I went! After using the pieces I have foraged I began sourcing bones from other folks who use ethical means to obtain them.
